Nothing is more frustrating than receiving a low battery alert on your smartphone. Also, not to mention how annoying it becomes when you get this notification when you need your mobile device the most. For instance, imagine you need to make a call to the Cox customer service number to inquire them about the internet deals, but your phone's battery is completely drained. That would be so frustrating!

You may also notice that after you have charged the phone for hours, the battery drains in half the time. This can happen because of many factors. For instance, there may be too many apps running in the background, or you have enabled the display brightness of your device to be high. Things like these can eat away your battery. Therefore, it is important to be mindful of such factors.

Top 4 Reasons Why Your Phone Battery Is Draining Fast

Your smartphone battery matters a lot. After all, you need it so you can keep using the device. But unfortunately, the phone battery can sometimes drain much faster. And here are some of the reasons why it happens:

#1. Picture-In-Picture Mode

If you use platforms like Twitch and YouTube TV on your smartphone, you may have used picture-in-picture mode. But what does this mode do? Well, with the help of his mode, you can stream or view any video in a small box while using other applications. This sure is a great convenience for someone who wants to do multitask, but you may not know that using multiple apps can drain your phone’s battery pretty quickly. So, what should you do? It’s simple, turn it off! Once you do this, you will notice that your device isn’t using as much battery as it once used to.

#2. Background Applications

You may not know this, but your phone is probably running multiple background apps. And this is one of the biggest reasons why mobile battery gets drained. Some of the common apps that may be running in the background can include calendar, health, and antivirus apps. These applications control specific functions of your phone which causes the battery to drain. The thing is that you don’t even need some of the apps to be running in the background. So, here’s what you should do; go to Settings and then tap Device Care if you are on Android or Battery if you are on iOS. This will show you the option of battery optimization. You can activate it. And doing so will close all the unnecessary background applications. It can help you save a lot of battery life.

#3. Screen Brightness

Screen brightness is a common reason why the battery of your smartphone depletes. You can set the brightness to the maximum so you can use the device without any issues, especially when you are outside. However, what you may not know is this can have a significant impact on the battery. It can easily drain your phone’s battery. But you should know that a dimmer screen won’t do you any good. You will not be able to view the display of your phone clearly if you have impaired eyesight or you are in a place where there is high exposure to light.

While lowering the brightness of your screen isn’t the best solution, what can you do? Well, one alternative is to switch your most frequently used apps like Facebook messenger and Instagram to dark mode. Doing this will not darken the display of your phone drastically, but it will change the menu and app backgrounds to black. This will save you significant battery, and your phone will be able to last longer.

#4. Staying Connected

People usually keep their WiFi activated even after they are done using the internet on their mobile devices. And due to this, the battery of your smartphone depletes. This is because if you are connected at all times, you will continue to receive updates and notifications even when you don’t need to see them. Therefore, it is advised to turn off your WiFi when there is no need for you to connect to the internet. For instance, it is a good idea to switch off the internet when you are about to sleep.
